Forging a new contemporary Filipino - American identity through food, Maharlika Filipino Moderno Restaurant MAHARLIKA
has arrived and spread its seeds through several corners of New York City.
From the East Village to Dekalb Market and Williamsburg, Maharlika's interior reflects a bold design through a sampling of Filipino Pop Cuture and history.

"It began life in January as a pop-up weekend brunch, moving from one host restaurant to another. In August, the owners — three young Filipino-Americans, Nicole Ponseca, Enzo Lim and Noel Cruz, and their Dominican chef, Miguel Trinidad — secured a space in the East Village..."

An installation consisting primarily of wall graphics referencing Filipino popular culture-
A nod to the golden era of beauty pageants and cinema is expressed in the form of a cut and paste collage of the contestants including Gloria Diaz and Margie Moran. A crazy, collaged grid of vintage film posters fill an entire wall. And a merchandising area featuring custom tees and Filipino dry goods
